Superintendents |
| The nickname "Super" refers to
the Superintendents, those organizations whose job is to accept and organize
exhibitor entries for all AKC events including All Breed Conformation Shows,
Obedience Trials, Tracking, Herding and Earthdog events and many other
competitions. They gather the entries, tabulate the dogs entered in each
breed, issue the armband numbers, compile and print the catalog which lists
all dogs entered. They provide the armbands and the judging books. They
provide, set up and take down the ring gates, the floor matting for indoor
shows, the tables for examination of the toy breeds. They also handle the
financial transactions, such as the collection of the entry fees, the
submission of funds to the AKC and the issuance of a check to the show
giving club for their proceeds from the show.

PLEASE, keep in mind that some shows, in particular Specialty Shows, will have their own Superintendents, usually a club member designated as Show Secretary. You can verify show Superintendents through the AKC Events Calendar. It is recommended that you contact the Superintendents that cover shows in the areas that you wish to attend. By accessing the LIST OF SUPERINTENDENTS, you can directly reach their website and e-mail them a request to be added to their mailing list. For those who do not have a website or e-mail access, the address is listed. Here is a sample of a typical request, (you may cut and paste this into the body of your e-mail): Please add my name to your Premium Mailing List for upcoming shows. Breed of Dog (s) that I show: My Name and Mailing Address: You will then start to receive Premium lists for upcoming shows furnished by the Superintendents.
